Update
The first days of treatment after amputation
December 1 Andrzej began his first cycle of chemotherapy after his amputation. The chemotherapy will last for three more cycles, each involving a four-day infusion, requiring vigilance and systematic monitoring of his condition.![]()
Next steps and preparations for radiation therapy
Repeated PET scan before Andrzej, which will allow us to assess whether the disease has been completely eliminated. Mattress modeling is also planned, because In the next stage of treatment, he will undergo radiotherapy, which requires precise preparation. Each of these steps is designed to determine the direction of therapy and assess how the body responds to the measures taken so far. December 8, 2025The only way of treatment was the most difficult one
On November 6, 2025, Andrew was admitted to the Department of Soft Tissue and Melanoma Surgery At the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Cancer Institute. He ended up there awaiting surgery, the necessity of which had been maturing for many months and the burden of which was obvious to all.Surgery stopped the disease, but changed lives
November 7 doctors carried out Amputation of the left upper limb with shoulder debridement. It was a moment for which one cannot prepare rationally. When the procedure came to an end, came silence and emotions that had long remained without an outlet. Andrew has his family by his side, accompanying him every step of this new and challenging reality.![]()
A request from Andrew
Andrew wanted to convey his gratitude to everyone who has supported his treatment so far. She also asks for further help. It will be especially needed now. He has a long way to go to regain his independence and find his way in the future, which has been determined by circumstances beyond his control. On behalf of Andrew, we thank you and ask for your continued support of the collection. October 21, 2025

Without pain and quietly
In the summer of 2024, Andrew felt a small thickening in the subcutaneous tissue of his left arm. It didn't hurt, it didn't impede daily life, but it wasn't going away. The diagnosis carried out eventually led doctors to make a diagnosis - Enzinger's sarcoma. The disease, which was developing quietly, had already managed to take over the axillary and subclavian lymph nodes.
The way through treatment
After being diagnosed with the disease , Andrew began intensive oncological treatment on the AI regimen. So far, he has received four courses of chemotherapy. On July 1, 2025, a multidisciplinary consilium meeting was held, during which doctors confirmed that sparing surgery was not an option. According to the approved therapy plan, three more courses of chemotherapy according to the AI regimen were scheduled, followed by a PET-CT study to determine the feasibility of tumor resection along with lymphadenectomy and the possible use of radiotherapy for supraclavicular lesions and hyperthermia.
On admission, Andrew was in good general condition, and blood test results showed no significant abnormalities. After the third course of chemotherapy, a follow-up PET-CT scan was performed , which showed a partial metabolic response of the axillary and subclavian lymph nodes on the left side. Most of the nodules in the subcutaneous tissue of the left upper limb remained stable, and the PET-CT image did not show new foci that might suggest further spread of the disease. Due to the response to treatment, Andrew has been scheduled for surgical treatment - amputation of the left upper limb along with axillary lymphadenectomy. The next stage of treatment will be radiation therapy of the supraclavicular lymph node area on the left side.
During his last hospitalization, he was given a fourth course of chemotherapy according to the AI regimen. After its completion, he was discharged home with recommendations for further treatment and observation.
Tame the inevitable
Andrew has been scheduled for amputation of the left upper limb, along with removal of the axillary and shoulder lymph nodes. The surgery was scheduled for November 6, 2025.
This is a final and extremely difficult decision, especially since Andrew is a left-handed person. The procedure means not only the loss of dexterity, but also the need to completely adapt to a new reality, in which every daily activity will have to be learned from scratch. Fortunately, he is not alone in this. Alongside him are his wife, daughter and family, who support him with unconditional care and faith that after all this time there will be a time to rebuild.
Purpose of the collection
The goal of the fundraising is to purchase a removable prosthesis so that Andrew will be able to regain at least some of his former independence and return to daily functioning. The recovery process will take many months and will require intensive rehabilitation and regular consultations in Warsaw. The funds raised will also be used for the necessities of daily life that Andrzej has so far met independently through his work.
For years he was involved in construction and finishing work. After graduating from school, he immediately took up employment, in time becoming the main breadwinner in the family. Everything he did was aimed at providing his wife and daughter with a peaceful home where nothing would be lacking. Today, the most difficult thing is to tame the helplessness that comes when the body refuses to obey, but the man still feels the power of action within himself. The thought of amputation arouses anger, grief and pain in Andrew, but also determination to regain his independence despite everything and the feeling that he is needed by someone again.
