With back pain and lack of faith - first symptoms

In mid-March 2025, Bartek began complaining of severe pain in his lumbar spine. Day by day it became increasingly difficult for him to walk. Concerned parents sought help from a neurologist, who referred the boy to the pediatric ward for further diagnosis.
The cause was not diagnosed. Instead, suspicions arose that the child was .... is simulating.
A psychiatrist was consulted, who stated unequivocally that the boy at this age was not capable of inventing the symptoms of the reported complaints.

Diagnoses sought in the dark, and the cancer was already there

The family did not stop searching for answers. After another consultation with a neurologist, Bartek was this time referred to the pediatric neurology department in Szczecin. The diagnosis was expanded to include an MRI, which showed damage to one of the vertebrae.

The complaints were attributed to the injury with a recommendation to wear an orthopedic corset. However, the pain did not go away, and the boy was losing strength, becoming lethargic by the day and stopped eating - he was simply fading from sight.

Breakthrough

The attentiveness of the orthopedic doctor, another of the many specialists visited, brought a long-awaited breakthrough.
Comparing the morphology results, he pointed out that the parameters had even worsened dramatically. He ordered repeat blood tests and immediate contact with the clinic if the CRP index increased. The results came the next day. CRP was very high, the other results - alarming. Moments later, Bartek was transferred to the hematology department in Szczecin.

Diagnosis: type B acute lymphoblastic leukemia

The results left no illusions. It is a blood cancer - a disease that develops rapidly and can remain invisible for a long time.
The medical team decided to start chemotherapy, to which Bartek reacted very badly.

After the first doses of chemotherapy, there were serious complications:

• epileptic seizures,
• acute pancreatitis,
• rapid hypertension,
• two hemorrhages.

Treatment had to be discontinued until the situation was stabilized.

Bartek is currently continuing therapy. How further treatment will proceed will depend on the results of further tests and the boy's health.
At this point it is difficult to predict whether the body will withstand further cycles. What is certain, however, is that Bartek and his family will not stop fighting!
