It is with great sadness that we announce that Maciej has passed away.
The last months of his life were an extremely difficult time, filled with daily struggles to persevere and maintain dignity in a situation that required enormous strength and patience. He was surrounded by care and attention until the very end. He was not alone on this journey. Thanks to the support of many people, his final days were as peaceful and secure as possible. Every gesture, every thought, and every form of help made a real difference. Today, there is silence, gratitude, and memory. We offer our sincere condolences to Maciej's family and loved ones. Maciej hasn't gotten out of bed for six months. He spends every day in home hospice care. His the body is extremely weakened, Therefore, it has become necessary to incorporate many forms of therapy that are designed to sustain vital functions, alleviate symptoms, and support the healing process.Maciej receives carboplatin chemotherapy. and with it, preparations that help his body endure the strain and side effects. Radiotherapy is conducted simultaneously., the successive stages of which are aimed at limiting the progression of the disease. Vitamin infusions are also used as a supportive measure. Due to prolonged immobilization Constant care in a specialized wound treatment clinic is also necessary. Bedsores, which appeared due to the inability to change position, require regular treatment, monitoring, and precise therapy. Maciej also uses private physical therapy. An additional element supporting his body has become Bowen therapy, which helps improve the nervous system and reduce tension, thereby slightly improving everyday comfort. From music into diagnosis
From an early age, music was the whole world for Maciej. From a passion, it became a direction he wanted to explore - not just to play, but to understand, arrange, create. He played the piano, bass guitar, composed. He performed with bands - first on small stages, then on the larger, more serious ones. He studied music theory and composition. He did not complete his studies. Illness took him away from this path.
At the end of 2021, something began to worry - a slight enlargement of the left testicle, not painful, easy to ignore. Difficulties with access to doctors, pandemonium, rescheduled appointments. Finally, there was pain that could no longer be drowned out. In July 2022, Maciej had an ultrasound. The result left no doubt: testicular cancer.
Orchidectomy followed by four cycles of BEP
The decision to have an immediate orchidectomy of the left testicle was made immediately. After the operation, Maciej was qualified for four cycles of chemotherapy according to the BEP (bleomycin, etoposide, cisplatin) regimen. The treatment lasted from August to October 2022. In November, a follow-up CT scan was performed. The result was unequivocal - untreated cancer.
Diagnosis: germinal neoplasm in unfavorable prognostic category
The diagnosis was mixed germinal neoplasm of the left testis in the unfavorable prognostic category:
- Gallbladder cancer (70%)
- choriocarcinoma (20%)
- mature monstrosity (10%)
Pause and pain returns
The year 2024 brought some calming, but the cancer did not disappear. In the fall, recurrent, severe pain - sciatica-like, with radiation - appeared. In November, Maciej was qualified for four cycles of chemotherapy according to the GO regimen (gemcitabine, oxaliplatin). In December, he began treatment at the Pain Management Clinic, but without much effect, as if the body had forgotten that it had a right to rest.
Paclitaxel and silence after the decision
Maciej was given six infusions of paclitaxel from March to May 2025. June brought no relief. The attending physician - after years of trials and successive regimens - informed him that there was no longer a therapy available.
Since then, all efforts have focused solely on pain relief.
Palliative care from July 3
On July 3, 2025, Maciej was admitted to the palliative care unit. Without an oncology treatment plan,without chemotherapy, instead with daily pain that escapes scales, and a disease that no one is trying to stop anymore.
Maciej is not asking for a miracle. He is asking for a moment without suffering.
