Update

Treatment in progress
I am currently undergoing chemotherapy. Every week, I receive what is known as "white chemotherapy." I still have a few more infusions ahead of me, provided my blood test results allow for continued treatment without interruption.

Once this stage is complete, oral chemotherapy is planned, followed by radiation therapy. Unfortunately, my body is really feeling the effects of the treatment. After the infusions, I experience fever, muscle and joint pain, and severe weakness. The neuropathy is also becoming increasingly bothersome. The numbness in my hands and feet can be so severe that I have trouble performing even simple tasks.

There are days when I feel a little better, and others when my body really makes itself felt. Despite everything, I try to go about my daily life as normally as possible. I've started another semester at college and am trying to balance my treatment with my studies.
Waiting for the doctors' next decisions
In the meantime, I had an MRI of my other breast. I waited all of March for the test results. My appointment is scheduled for May 8, so I still have to wait a little longer to talk to the doctor and make further decisions about treatment.

I’d also like to discuss the possibility of having my other breast removed, which is why this consultation is so important to me. For now, I’m focusing on getting through the next rounds of chemotherapy and finding the strength to face each new day of treatment. April 21, 2026
Genetic test results!
Edyta underwent genetic testing, which revealed some very difficult information. The results confirmed the presence of the PALB2 mutation, which indicates a hereditary predisposition to cancer.
Doctors' recommendations
In connection with the results of the research Doctors clearly recommended preventive mastectomy of both breasts. The risk of recurrence in the near future has been estimated at as high as 50 percent, which is why further therapeutic measures must be taken.
Operations planning
A specific date for the procedure will be set during the planned consultation with the oncologist in February. January 12, 2026

The beginning of a dramatic story

March 2025 brought a change that Edyta could not have predicted. Her ordinary life, filled with the daily responsibilities of raising children, was interrupted by a diagnosis in September that immediately changed her perspective. The first biopsy, performed without any suspicion of a dramatic result, revealed an aggressive form of G3 breast cancer, a disease that entered her life suddenly and without warning. This news came at a time when Edyta was trying to rebuild stability after difficult months. Her disbelief that such a serious illness could affect her at the age of thirty-nine still resonates in every memory of that day.

A painful turning point

October 21, 2025, will forever remain an unforgettable day in her life. She underwent a mastectomy of her right breast, a life-saving procedure that simultaneously deprived her of her sense of security and a part of her femininity so strongly associated with the experience of motherhood. From that moment on, the prospect of recovery became a journey that would take many months.

Treatment scheduled for years

At the end of November, systemic therapy began, consisting of four cycles of red chemotherapy, followed by 12 cycles of white chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hormone therapy, which will continue for many years. The treatment process will take about three years, and its intensity is taxing on both the body and the mind. Each stage brings side effects that make getting through a normal day require more determination than she has ever known before.

The burden of loneliness

Edyta is raising Hania and Antos alone. All household responsibilities rest on her shoulders, with the irreplaceable support of her sister and grandparents. Every morning becomes a challenge that requires not only physical strength but also inner stability. The most difficult moments are right after waking up, when pain and fatigue tell her that she could stay in bed.

The children's gazes remind her that she must face another day. She is their caregiver, their comfort, their home, and the only certainty they have.
Dreams must wait

Her studies in education, which she began with the aim of creating a safer future for children, gave her a sense of purpose and hope for stability. However, her illness prevented her from attending classes regularly. Commuting became too exhausting, and her concentration weakened to such an extent that it was difficult to keep up with her studies.
Despite this, she has not given up on the idea of returning to school one day, because she wants to give her children a better life.

Cancer took away her sense of security, built up over many years, and fear for the future became a constant companion in her everyday life. Edyta needs psychological support and psychiatric care, because the battle she is fighting is not only about her body, but also about the deep balance her children need.

Those who carry it in difficult times

Her parents and relatives on her future in-laws' side support her as much as they can and help her catch her breath in moments of greatest fatigue. Whenever she has the strength, she crochets small items, which give her a moment of relief and allow her to take her mind off the burden she carries every day. Although these moments are becoming increasingly rare, each one is priceless.

Necessary support

Long-term therapy, medical consultations, medication, travel, and rehabilitation create a burden that Edyta is unable to bear on her own. Every expense becomes a challenge, and single motherhood further exacerbates this difficulty.
Real support can become a source of strength for her, allowing her to go through the next stages of treatment with hope for the future she desires for her children.

There are people who carry a burden beyond the capabilities of one person, but they do so out of love for those who mean the world to them. Every day, Edyta shows that this love becomes a source of strength that illness cannot take away.
