Meet challenge
As the United Korona Supporters Association, we are officially taking over the patronage of the collection for the son of our Brother in Shawl, who himself has actively participated in all collections for the poorest and needy for years. Once again, let's rise to the occasion and show that we will also make this collection a success. Narrow has always helped us with various initiatives, so now let's prove that good comes back and help him and his wife so that their son will quickly recover fully! Let's act!
In July 2023, Nikolai turned 2 years old, and a month later a small thickening appeared on the boy's neck, which was growing rapidly. Concerned parents went with him to the outpatient clinic, and later that month Nikolai was admitted to the Oncology and Hematology Department of the Regional Hospital in Kielce. Thorough tests were performed there, including ultrasound, MRI, CT scan, and surgical biopsy. The result was devastating. What was initially supposed to be a harmless lymph node enlargement turned out to be a malignant tumor - mucinous fibrosarcoma.
In September, Nikolai and his mother were transferred to the "Cape of Hope" - Children's Oncology Center in Wroclaw, where a number of necessary tests were again performed. The final diagnosis turned out to be even worse - a very rare and aggressive malignant tumor, the so-called rhabdoid tumor. Already during the examination, Nikolai began treatment and is still undergoing intensive chemotherapy. Its goal is to shrink the tumor so that it can be removed as quickly and as much as possible. After that, the boy faces further long-term treatment and rehabilitation.
The beginning in the hospital was very difficult and stressful. An unfamiliar place, a lot of examinations, most under anesthesia, a lot of insertions. In the first days Nicholas often cried, but he quickly acclimatized, which was mainly helped by wonderful people - "aunts and uncles" from "Cape of Hope", doctors, nurses and volunteers.
The little boy waits every day to visit and play, even for students who want to know the story of his illness. Despite what the little one is struggling with, and despite the heavy chemotherapy, Nikolai bravely endures the treatment. He is sociable and full of energy, and the happy smile almost never leaves his face. He is eager to play with his mother and every person who visits him.
He is not lacking in creativity, although he sometimes gets reverie and looks out the window of the hospital room. He misses his daddy and four-year-old sister very much, who stayed in Kielce. He doesn't understand the seriousness of the situation or the illness he's battling, and keeps repeating that he'll be fine and come home - to his daddy and Yuleczka.
You can help Nicholas in his fight against a very malignant cancer. Thank you for any support!
