It all started as a common infection, but hour by hour, Marcel’s condition deteriorated so rapidly that simple vigilance saved his life. Within a few days, the 11-year-old boy—who had been at home playing with Legos and games with his friends—found himself in the oncology ward with a diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and soon after, sepsis as well.
