Update
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zbigniew
There were supposed to be more updates, further stages of treatment, and attempts to stop the disease that had suddenly turned everyday life upside down. There was supposed to be a sequel.
You were there for him during this difficult time, and we thank you for that.
Your support meant the world to us. It helped us navigate our daily lives, in which treatment had become the top priority. Today, there is silence, but it is not emptiness. What remains is the memory of a person—their presence, their demeanor, and how they navigated this difficult time.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Zbigniew’s family and loved ones. March 3, 2026
Explore the history of
Plural cancer
In mid-April 2025, Zbigniew was hospitalized with life-threatening anemia. A series of tests to clarify its cause yielded a diagnosis that was difficult to bear - two independent cancers: stage IV rectal adenocarcinoma with liver metastasis, and squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck region with lymph node metastasis.
Treatment in the rhythm of chemotherapy and radiotherapy
On May 30, chemotherapy was started in two-week cycles. Initially, everything pointed to the effectiveness of the treatment - the tumor on the neck began to shrink.
In August, however, there was a sharp turnaround: the lesion began to grow again, rapidly leading to vocal fold paralysis and loss of voice.
The treatment was not discontinued. On September 22, radiation therapy to the head and neck region was implemented. Each cycle of therapy became a struggle for another day, paid for by pain and increasing weakness.
Everyday life lined with pain
The disease has taken away his voice and dexterity. Every day requires Zbigniew to put forth a tremendous effort - to get up, move around, overcome further ailments. Zbigniew stays at home, on sick leave, trying to maintain his independence despite pain and difficulty swallowing. He struggles not to give in to the disease, although even the simplest activities become a challenge.
Support that empowers
Funds from the collection will be used for medications and specialized nutrition, which are necessary to keep the body in good shape during intensive treatment and give the next stages of therapy a chance.
