Norwegian fjords – a journey into the heart of wild nature
We intend to sail across Sognefjord in Norway, the largest and deepest fjord in Europe, known as the king of Norwegian fjords. It is a monumental place created by glaciers, where the water cuts more than two hundred kilometers into the land, and steep mountain walls rise almost vertically from the surface of the fjord, reaching heights of over a thousand meters.
It is a harsh, wild, and uncompromising land, where the weather can change in minutes and the silence can be more overwhelming than the noise of big cities. Crossing the Sognefjord is not just a kayaking trip, but a real encounter with nature in its most primitive form.
Survival, cold weather, and the daily struggle against the elements
We will traverse the fjord by packraft or inflatable kayak. We plan to start the expedition around June 20, and the whole thing will take just over a week. It will be a full-fledged survival expedition. The challenge will not only be the paddling itself, but also daily functioning in the wild.
Sleeping in a tent on the shore of a fjord, searching for safe places to camp, coping with the cold, wind, rain, and limited access to civilization. Each day will be a test of physical and mental endurance, and each kilometer traveled will be another step toward the goal.
Two partners, one challenge. Who are we and why are we going there?
We are partners in this expedition and we are taking on this challenge together. Our names are Maksymilian Gromadzki and Ariel Milkowski. Maksymilian has already visited 59 countries, learning about cultures, wildlife, and animals around the world.
Norway will be his 60th country. Traveling is his greatest passion, but for years he has been consistently raising the bar, seeking not only beautiful places, but also challenges that require character, determination, and courage. Ariel Milkowski is an experienced traveler who has explored many corners of the world, most often in his distinctive pink camper van. He is the originator of the idea to sail across the Sognefjord, and his vision quickly turned into a realistic plan.
A great adventure with a big heart – the charitable goal of the expedition
Our expedition also has a charitable purpose. This fundraiser was created to help children. We believe that great adventures can and should go hand in hand with doing good. We want to use the reach of this expedition to provide real support to those who need it most. Every share and every donation brings us closer to our goal and helps the children to whom we dedicate this expedition.
Be with us every kilometer of the way – live coverage of the expedition
The entire course of the expedition, from preparations, through daily struggles on the water, to the moment of reaching the destination, can be followed on our social media. Join us and make this journey bring something more than just adventure!
