Meet challenge
I run a group called Cupcakes on the Run.
This is a marching group that was created out of a need in the heart and is a place for women of all ages. We meet to train together, but also to give each other support and motivation. This time we want our effort to have an even deeper meaning. We dedicate it to women who fight the most dangerous adversary - cancer - every day.
Our run is 8 kilometers that symbolize solidarity, hope and life.
The number eight has a special meaning for us. Inverted, it resembles the infinity sign, which often appears in oncology campaigns in ribbon form. For us, it's a sign that the support we give to others never ends. We want every step to remind women undergoing treatment that they are not alone, that in the background of their struggle are other women who are running, supporting and sending good energy.
Shared kilometers - shared hearts
This run is our way of saying: "We are with you. We admire your strength and determination. We run together, if only symbolically." Because Cupcakes on the Run is not only about shared kilometers, it's about shared hearts that beat with one rhythm.
