Swim through the 7 largest lakes in Poland

My name is Dominika Kozak. For more than thirteen years, sports have been my whole world. I trained triathlon - with passion, discipline and heart. One day it just disappeared. Some said: injury. Others: illness. As a matter of fact, it didn't matter. All that mattered was that I could no longer walk ahead. Every step was a pain.

It was one of the most difficult moments of my life. I lost not only fitness, but also a part of myself. But I'm back!

Today I'm able to train again, and that's why in August I'm taking on the biggest sporting challenge I've ever faced: in 7 days I'll swim about 127 km across 7 of Poland's largest lakes. No wetsuit, no comforts and no concessions. Just me, water, pain, cold and silence, in which only one thought will sound: I can - so I swim.

I don't do it for the result. I'm doing it to celebrate the road I've traveled. Every meter covered, will be a tribute to regained fitness.

But most of all - I swim for Cuba.

For a boy who, like me, was an athlete, loved movement and competition. The disease stopped his body. It robbed him of the everyday life he took for granted not so long ago. That is why I am doing this. For him. With him.

It won't be easy, but when you know such a story - you can't go back. I want to give Kuba strength and I want him to know that someone is swimming along with him. One meter after another - through fatigue, through pain, through everything that seems impossible.
