The first symptoms came suddenly.

Susie was only a few months away from entering adulthood when the first symptoms of the disease made themselves known. The teenager began to complain increasingly of recurrent chest pain. Initially, cardiac problems were suspected. At the hospital, it was suggested that heart-related ailments might be the cause of the pain.
The parents, aware of the seriousness of the situation, did not ignore the symptoms. Despite their involvement, doctors saw nothing alarming in Susie's condition. They recommended observation.

In May 2024, Susie felt a disturbing thickening under her breast. She went in for an ultrasound, but the test showed no change.
In June, she underwent a long-awaited heart ablation procedure that was supposed to end her problems with arrhythmia once and for all. It seemed that everything was beginning to return to normal. But just two months later, the pain returned - stronger, more difficult to bear. Chest pain was joined by back pain, night sweats appeared, and extreme exhaustion.

Susie began waking up at night screaming, reeling from pain that could not be controlled. A repeat ultrasound this time showed changes. The doctors had no more doubts. Urgent oncological diagnosis was initiated. Blood tests, a consultation with a pediatric oncologist, a CT scan - all confirmed what everyone feared. It was cancer.

He was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma of the chest wall with metastasis to the bone and bone marrow.

In September, treatment began at the Mother and Child Institute in Warsaw. First, a biopsy of the tumor and bone marrow, followed immediately by chemotherapy. Fourteen cycles were planned - both intravenous infusions and oral chemotherapy. At a later stage , surgery is planned to remove the ribs and tumor. Under the treatment, the lesion is expected to shrink - this gives hope.

Zuzia does not give up.

Despite the devastating therapy, this young woman tries to live as normal a life as possible. She participates in online classes, keeps in touch with friends, and although they don't see each other every day, Susie knows that they are close and that they are waiting for her. For her younger sister, she is a role model - she doesn't show how much she suffers. She doesn't talk about it out loud. She just fights - quietly, with dignity.

Thanks to the treatment, there was hope.

Preliminary follow-up examinations show that Zuzi's body has responded very well to the therapy. The tumor is shrinking. This is the first sign that everything she has gone through makes sense. Do the end of the ongoing battle is still a long way off. After the operation to remove the ribs and the tumor, there will be time for recovery, rehabilitation and periodic check-ups. It will be a long march for health. Day by day, step by step.

Help Zuzi walk this path.
