Not surprisingly, when in mid-August our Warrior girl unexpectedly became very lethargic, lacked energy and had no appetite, her parents became deeply concerned.
They immediately went to their daughter's primary care physician after noticing suspicious symptoms.
The doctor prescribed Mary an antibiotic, which she took before a long period and brought a gentle improvement. Shortly thereafter, our protégée started first grade in elementary school. However, her joy did not last long. At the beginning of the month, an elevated temperature reappeared. Mary's mother sensed that something bad was beginning to happen and decided to bring her daughter for blood tests.
Later that day, they reappeared at the family doctor. CBC results showed a significantly elevated CRP. The pediatrician examined the girl by auscultation and referred her to the hospital with suspected pneumonia. At the hospital, a lung ultrasound and several other x-rays were performed to find the source of the health problems.
The initial suspicion - lymphoma. However, there was no time to lose and Marysia was immediately taken to the Hematology and Oncology Department in Gdansk. Detailed examinations confirmed the suspicions. Our warrior girl is facing a duel with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a mixed cell type, also known as malignant granuloma.
The treatment process has begun. The first dose of chemotherapy has been administered, and two cycles of 28 days each are planned. After that, imaging studies will be carried out, which will (hopefully) provide answers as to whether the treatment is going well and what the rest of the treatment will look like.
Currently, Marysia is feeling very well and is not struggling with any side effects - we very much hope that in the further stages of treatment it will be the same. We encourage you to support this small and brave Warrior! Funds raised at the fundraiser will be used to pay for the cost of ongoing treatment, travel to hospitals and doctors, proper diet and supplementation, as well as later rehabilitation and possible complications related to the disease
