Update
We will always remember Maja as a wonderful, cheerful, and smiling little girl whose presence had something truly special about it.
Today we say goodbye to Maja with great pain and sadness. She has left behind many beautiful memories—moments full of joy and kindness—that will remain in our hearts forever. We extend our deepest condolences to Maja’s family and stand with you in your pain and grief. May the memories of the moments you shared together, her smile, and the kindness she left behind be a source of strength during these unimaginably difficult days. Maja will forever remain in our hearts and memories. July 10, 2026

November 2023
It all started in November 2023. Our daughter Maja said her arm hurt. At first, we weren’t too worried. We thought she might have bumped it or strained her arm.
But the pain wouldn't go away. It kept coming back more and more often.
Diagnosis
The doctor's visit wasn't like usual. We were given referrals for further tests and consultations. With each visit, our anxiety grew. Then came the day we had been dreading so much. We sat in the doctor's office, listening to words that sounded like a bad dream.
Diagnosis: osteosarcoma.
In an instant, our whole world came to a standstill. Fear, disbelief, helplessness. Thousands of thoughts racing through my mind, and one question that wouldn’t let me rest: why Maja?
Treatment and surgery
The doctors didn't waste any time. Maja was already in the hospital in January.
From the day of her diagnosis, Maja’s life was filled with medical tests and successive stages of treatment. She began chemotherapy, an incredibly grueling battle that sapped her strength but did not dampen her courage. Each cycle brought days of weakness and side effects that no child should ever have to endure.
The test results brought very difficult news: the cancer had metastasized to her lungs and shoulder blade. Maja also underwent several surgeries. The doctors fitted her with a prosthetic left arm. She had two thoracotomies on her right and left lungs.
Maja is about to begin the next phase of her treatment. The doctors have decided to change her chemotherapy regimen because the current one has not produced the expected results.
Then and Now
These days, Maja spends most of her time in the hospital, and we’re by her side every step of the way. We’re supporting her as best we can, and her siblings are constantly checking in—calling, texting, and offering words of encouragement.
Before her illness, Maja was a very creative girl. She loved to draw and make colorful beaded decorations. Although her daily life looks different today, she remains the same girl—full of sensitivity, dreams, and extraordinary strength.
Every day of Maja’s fight for her health involves not only tremendous effort and many difficult moments, but also ever-increasing costs. With each passing week, it becomes harder and harder for us to bear this burden. We humbly ask for your support during this extremely difficult time.
