The first sign of the disease
In the middle of last year, I felt a strange stinging sensation in my back. At first, I chalked it up to my spine, stress, or just plain fatigue. But as time went on, I grew increasingly concerned because the strange sensation wouldn’t go away. Something told me I should get it checked out.
The doctor referred me for a chest X-ray. I went there convinced it wasn’t anything serious. A quick exam, a brief chat, and I’d be back to my normal routine.
The moment of diagnosis
After the test, I was told that there were spots on my lungs. At first, I tried to stay calm, telling myself it was probably nothing serious. Then came more tests, doctor’s visits, and long days of waiting for the results.
Finally, the diagnosis was made: adenocarcinoma of the left lung.
I remember that day as if it were yesterday. That office, the cold light, and the silence, which suddenly felt heavier than anything I had ever felt before. The doctor kept talking, but I could only make out a few scattered words.
Chemotherapy
I have been undergoing chemotherapy since March 2026. Every new cycle is a struggle—not only against the disease, but also against fatigue, pain, and the fear of what the next checkup will reveal.
For years, I’ve also been dealing with type 1 diabetes and multi-level spinal disc herniation. There are days when my body just doesn’t have the strength anymore, but despite everything, I try to get up every morning and keep fighting.
Then and Now
Right now, I’m at home with my loved ones. They are my greatest source of support. When it’s time for treatment, I head to Katowice. On the way, my mind is filled with so many thoughts that it’s hard to make sense of them all.
Then I go home again. To the people who make even the hardest days a little easier.
Before I got sick, my life had a completely different rhythm. Driving gave me a sense of freedom. The sound of the engine, the open road ahead, the feeling that I could just drive on without a plan. And in the winter, I looked forward to skiing. The snow, the wind on my face, and that moment when everything else ceased to exist.
Request for help
Every bit of support means the world to me, because every day I face not only my illness but also the financial burden it brings, which can be just as difficult as the struggle to regain my health.
Thank you very much for all your support.
